The first and most important thing for you to do when you welcome your new beagle puppy into your family is to get him/her all necessary vaccinations. It’s smart to start them on flea and heart worm prevention as soon as they are old enough so that they don’t have serious health issues.
Finding the right dog food for your puppy is vital to it’s health. Not all dog breeds require the same nutrition regimen. Learning how to read the nutrition labels on dog food is very helpful and you will also feel better about what they are eating. You can consult your vet or do your own research and find what’s best. It’s never a good idea for your dog to intake your leftovers from dinner or any other meal. This can cause health problems and quite possibly some bad table side manner (begging). If you want to reward your Beagle, they will never turn down a good dog treat.
Grooming for Beagles isn’t too excessive but necessary a couple times of week. They just need a thorough brushing a few times a week to keep their coat healthy and rid of any excess in their fur. Bathing them once or a couple times a month is needed as well. Clean the ears with wipes or a solution to prevent any kind of ear infection or build up.
The Beagle breed can be very stubborn so when in the training process and just everyday situations it’s important to be consistent with them. Rewarding them with dog treats works great with these dogs as they love their praise and their food! Keeping your Beagle happy and in good health can keep them around for 15 yrs. or so.
