The Beagle has been around for a very long time. They date back to the ancient greeks. Beagles were bred as pack hunters and were also used for hare hunting in England in the 14th century. Beagles were bred as pack hunters so they always need some kind of companionship whether it be you or another dog.
These dogs are very social, gentle and sweet. They have a very kind disposition and tend to be more submissive. Beagles have a super sense of smell so that alone leads them on little adventures. Since the Beagle is so curious and adventurous; they need to have a secured yard when left outside and it’s good to have a leash on hand while walking them too. That way, if they start to explore on their own little path (which they will) you can put a leash on them so they don’t get too far away from you.

The Beagle is very lovable and also very intelligent. it’s important to train them firmly since they can be a bit stubborn at times. Their need for constant companionship makes them a very loyal and ideal family dog.
